San Juan River & Navajo Lake

As a Ski Instructor / Fishing Guide I always look foward to the changing of seasons and jobs. The 2008 ski season at Wolf Creek Ski area will end on April 27. I will be guiding starting the first week in April on the San Juan River, and will start guided trips on Navajo Lake as the water temp. increases and the bass move into pre-spawn. In the last 3 weeks we have had over 10 feet of snow on the mountain. Our on mountain base has been around 150 inches for the last 1/2 of the season. With more snow expected in the next 2 weeks our rivers and lake should be in excellent shape after spring run-off. I am in the process of getting a couple leases on private property on the Navajo River, and of course I will still have Sunset Ranch on the San Juan River for guest wanting to stay in the Pagosa Area.
Tight lines & screaming reels,

Below is a pic from last week on the Juan below the dam. The river is running at 4,000 cfs, and will be bumped up to 5,000 for a good part of April and May. The fishing will remain good after the "bump days". If you are on your own be careful fishing with the high water. Make sure that you have a wading belt, and I would recomnend a PFD. All of my clients will be wearing inflatible PFD's on wade trips over 4,000.
