Lake Simcoe 12-30-08 |
Lake Simcoe is the premier ice fishing area for perch, pike, whitefish and lake trout. Your author is a fishing operator out of Cooks Bay who targets primarily perch and pike. This season has seen some drastic weater swings from snow, to wind, to rain! This roller coaster has left us at Dec 30th with a closed up bay with varying ice thicknesses from 6" to 2 to 3 " depending on where you travel. As at this post, the weather calls for low temps the next few days of -10 to -15C which is ice making weather! Skidoos and ATV's are currently travelling shore areas. We will be out on 6" of ice on Friday Jan 1 for those that care to wet a line. We provide daily hut rentals or an all inclusive B&B with fishing! Check out a few sites to be informed on lake ice conditions and fishing conditions. Be safe out there! Whitey, SFA
